The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 2008 with an intake of 60.

VISION

To create high quality civil engineers with global perspective and to inculcate in them professionalism and work ethics for building a stronger society.

MISSION

* To nurture civil Engineers with competent technical skills, professional and ethical values to serve the Nation.

* To transform the department into a centre of excellence in the field of civil engineering and allied research.

* To provide knowledge base through consultancy services to the community in all areas of civil engineering.

* To inculcate innovation and eco sustainable construction in the minds of budding civil engineers to face ever evolving challenges.

Programme Educational Objectives

1. To provide outgoing graduates with sound basics in mathematics, science and engineering

2. To imbibe technical skills, analysis and design, to solve civil engineering problems.

3. To enable them to deal construction related issues in a responsible, professional and ethical manner for implementing eco friendly , sustainable technologies.

4. To make them realise the need of higher education , research and development in civil engineering.

Program Outcomes

Engineering graduates will be able to

1. Apply the knowledge of mathematics, applied sciences to civil engineering to the solution of complex engineering problems.

2. Identify ,formulate, research literature and solve problems in the structural, construction management, hydraulic, Transportation, and geotechnical stream of civil engineering.

3. Design solutions for complex civil engineering problems with appropriate consideration to safety, economy, health and environmental considerations.

4. Use research based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, and analyse and interpret data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions

5. Create, select, and apply appropriate upgraded civil engineering tools, techniques and resources and IT tools including prediction and modelling of complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations

6. Serve the society with engineering knowledge with onus on societal health, safety, legal and cultural issues

7. Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate the need for sustainable development.

8. Apply and demonstrate the ethical principles, commit to professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice

9. Deliver as a leader and good team player in diverse teams and in multidisciplinary settings.

10. Have spoken and written skills of communication, being able to comprehend and write effective reports, design documentation, make effective presentation, give and receive clear instructions

11. Coordinate as team member or the leader the site projects, finance, and the consultancy with ease in multidisciplinary environments.

12. Recognise the need for and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life long learning in the broad context of technological change.

Gala Viral from BE - CIVIL secured “The Rao Bahadur Rajadhyaksha Gold Medal” Award from Mumbai university for securing highest marks in the Subject of “Limit State Method for Reinforced Concrete structures (Sem VII) And Design & Drawing for Reinforced Concrete structures (Sem VIII).He also secured “The M K Surveyor Prize” from Mumbai university for securing Third highest marks in the Subject of Design & Drawing for Reinforced Concrete structures.

Hazel Cardoz and Abhay Bachhuka from BE - CIVIL secured 1st place Inter Collegiate Elocution Competition - organized by Builder's Association of India on “Build for tomorrow with a mind of day after”at VJTI Mumbai.

Justin Jebanandam, Mrudula Kale, Simran Gond , Priyanka Iyer from T.E secured 2nd place International project competition for their project titled "Green Bungalow ".

Saraubh Chikalikar, Abhishek patil,Rishab salunke, Aditya Patil and Ajith Nale secured 2nd place in AAKAR competition - IIT Mumbai for their project titled "Bridge IT".

Sushant Parab, Dhaval Shinde, Tejash and Mukesh secured 3rd place in AAKAR competition -IIT Mumbai for their project titled "Conquer-IT".

Civil Engineering students chapter called Association of Civil Engineering (ACE) was inaugurated on Engineers Day 15th September 2014, and it is associated with Institute of Engineers (IE). The main object of ACE is to promote Civil Engineering by providing the much-needed practical exposure to the community members through its regular activities like technical seminars, research symposium, talks on ongoing research practices throughout the globe, Software training, Total station workshops, Quiz competition Etc.

Department of Civil Engineering arranged one day Industry Visit to Sewage Treatment Plant, Versova on 24th Aug 2017

Department of Civil Engineering Organized One day National seminar on "Structural Audit and Repair to Concrete Structures" (SARCONS) on 4th March 2017. In Association with Palghar District Architects and Engineers Association, Palghar. Resource persons were from both Industry and Educational background. 113 candidates participated in the session.The seminar was scheduled for four different sessions as :

1. "Rehabilitation and Retrofiting of Concrete Pavement" by Dr. Vilas V Karjinni. Principal, Kolhapur Institute of Technology.

2. "Aiding Life to Concrete Structures" by Dr. Madan Kamat. Director- M/s Krishna Conchem Pvt. Ltd.

3. "Audit and restoration of structures" by Mr. Nitin Doshi. Proprietor, M/s Doshi & Company.

4. "Structural Health Assessment" by Prof. K.G. Hiraskar. Structural Consultant & Professor, Kolhapur Institute of Technology.

Department of Civil Engineering Organized One day work shop on Total station on 6-9-2014. Resource persons were from Industry.

Department of Civil Engineering conducts Three days Extensive Survey Project for Second Year students every year in the month of Feb-March.
